Artist Process:
Taking photographs, while traveling the world, is my passion. I love wandering through small towns, hidden alleyways, fields of blooming flowers and many other places I find along the way. When looking for subject matter, I am often drawn to scenes that might evoke a sense of contentment in the viewer. I also hope to capture some of the uniqueness of each location, leading one to appreciate its history and its natural beauty. I then come up with a final composition by combining color, light, form and line. All of these elements come together to make up my own artistic representation of that particular place.
Technical Process:
My photographs are taken using various Nikon cameras and lenses depending on the desired effect.
This particular portfolio was all photographed using natural pre-existing light with the exception of the few indoor candlelit shots. I have found that this helps to convey the true essence of the image as it was originally found.
Once the image is finalized, I hand print it in my own color darkroom to ensure complete control every step of the way. All of my finished printing is done using museum quality archival papers and inks. In addition, I have extensively studied color printing at The Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle and therefore, feel that I have a good understanding of the many different processes available to photographers. Thus, I am able to ensure that every body of work I put out for the public is of the highest quality possible.
Presentation:
Each image is a signed, numbered, limited edition print, each size being one edition. The photographs are double matted with 100% cotton, white, acid free, non- buffered, archival mat board. Frames are available for all seven mat sizes in three different styles. I do all my own matting and framing, again to ensure the highest quality result possible.
